Toshiba’s latest tablet addition Thrive 7 is available in stores with a variety of features. The 7-inch tablet offers 16 GB and 32 GB picks, both having similar specifications. The Thrive is the successor of 10-inch model, which was released in July this year.
The compact edition weighing 0.8 pounds and less than half-an-inch thick , Thrive 7 looks and performs well with the much touted 7-inch high resolution 1280×800-pixel widescreen display. Built on the Android Honeycomb 3.2 platform, the device is powered by 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor with 1 GB of RAM.
The tablet comes decorated with a 2 megapixel camera on the front and a 5 megapixel snapper on the rear. Besides, it has a pair of stereo speakers, a micro-SD card slot, a mini-USB 2.0 port and a micro-HDMI port.
The accessories enable you to connect it to your widescreen TV, and offer access to other options too. The only limitation is its battery, which would last only upto 6 hours off the plug.
Toshiba offers a wonderful software package, with features like Google apps, Android Market, Gmail, YouTube, Maps and more, along with Toshiba’s own apps.
The tablet costs $379 for the 16 GB model and $429 for the 32 GB model.
Toshiba may have to strive hard, to survive with the Thrive, since the opponents offer similar configuration for lesser prices.
The Kindle Fire and RIM’s 16 GB playbook cost $199 each, and HP TouchPad comes for just $99, over at Amazon. Are you going for the Thrive?
