How could one forget Google TV, the new TV platform that allowed users to enjoy a large number of channels from cable or satellite providers and the Web. If you remember, the service was introduced last year around this time? It was really a new nice Smart TV platform that runs Android OS and Google Chrome for web browsing, but due to some reasons the initial version was not a success.

And now, the company is coming up with a new version of the Google TV with many improved features.

With the software being upgraded, Google TV will sport a much simpler interface that will allow users to customize the home screen and access their favorite contents as similar to the Android phone or tablet.

It comes with an app named “TV & Movies” that allows the users to browse through 80,000 movies and TV episodes from cable or satellite, Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and more.

It supports many cool and useful apps in the Android Market and even some of the mobile apps too. And, the number might increase, as the TV platform is now open to app developers.

This week, the software update will reach Sony devices, whereas the Logitech Google TVs will get a bit late.
