E3 has been seeing many a new roll outs. Among them, this one makes us sit up and watch. The OnLive Player app for the Apple iPad and the HTC Flyer were unveiled at the show, with the promise of bringing in internet-streamed gaming to the iPad and Android tablets. It is considered to be the best gaming medium away from the computer.

The player app enables easy access to games, the store, ongoing live games as well as to Brag Clips, the 10-second replays of gamers’ favorite moments. The interface of the player app looks similar to that of the Mac or Windows PC.
The app enables tablets to be used as the screen and touch or motion controller, touch or motion controller for games on an HDTV as well as on the screen for games being played with the new universal wireless gamepad. Also, the app will work the same way on smaller Android and Apple devices as well.
As of now, it does not provide access to the Universal Wireless Controller linked up to either the Flyer or the iPad. However, it is known to be working over Bluetooth. We hope that feature to be ready by the time the gamepad hits the market.
The app has got certain drawbacks too, relating to the touch aspect of the devices and the early state of the app.
As always, an ideal Internet environment is needed for the OnLive to work, preferably a stable 3Mbps connection .The OnLive Player will come to the HTC Flyer in August, while other tablets will have to wait till September or October.
