If plans had been adhered to, the HP TouchPad tablet would have been in our hands by now. Rumored to release way back in April, that never happened. Latest rumors say that the webOS 3.0 tablet could possibly be unveiled on June 12th.

The revelation comes courtesy of a leak. Folks at Pre Central have managed to lay their hands on a spec sheet that was to be handed over to resellers and business customers. As per the leaked document, June 12th could see the release.
This 9.7-inch tablet will be offered in the price range of $499 -$599 for major resellers and depending on hard drive size. It appears that a 7-inch counterpart of HP TouchPad is also all set for release this September. That’s what the spec sheet hints at, though pricing details are not shown.
HP Touchpad will be the first tablet to operate on Web OS and will sport a vibrant diagonal capacitive 9.7 multitouch interface, virtual keyboard, instant-on access, support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta in the browser and access to thousands of webOS applications.
Under the hood, it will hide a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2-GHz processor. The device that will be offered in either 16 GB or 32 GB variants.
The release date is fortunately not so far away. If the leaked document is something to go by, we think we are in for something nice.

Finally, a refreshing break from the Android syndrome of reccent. Having seen the youtube demos, and reading previews for weeks now, we can safely say HP has a solid offering. Ecosystems aside, the TouchPad looks the part of a solid piece of kit. I am somewhat entrigued by HP’s top brass claiming it will be No.1 plus.
If what we’ve seen so far is by anyways a gauge of things to come, the iOS platform can have a genuine challenge on its hand. In the end, the comsumer and business public will be the final judge. Thumbs up to HP on this one.
