Ebooks Overtake Paperbacks! Feb Sales Show a 202% Rise

Ebooks overtake paperbacks and hard covers? If you though that was a foregone conclusion, we suggest you check this out.  Ebooks topped in sales in February. Sounds surprising for sure, but ebook sales have touched $90.3 million during the month, recording a 202 percent increase compared with the same month previous year.

Ebooks Overtake Paperbacks! Feb Sales Show a 202% Rise

The Association of American Publishers claims to have collected the net sales data from publishers and not from the book retailers like Barnes & Noble. This claim seems to have boosted the authenticity of the findings.

Earlier, Amazon had come up with interesting statistics that showed their ebook sales taking dominance over paperbacks. The Amazon indications coupled with the February reports indicate that lots of people got e-readers for themselves.

As you know, Barnes & Noble had earlier this year predicted that the traditional book sellers will be forced to adapt to an ebook-centric industry within two years.

Though there has not been anything which points to a complete make over so far, the recent hike in ebook sales needs to be accounted for seriously. Otherwise, the paperback and hardcover industries will be facing major setbacks in the coming years. On whose side are you?
