We had earlier heard the complete Star Wars saga’s Blu-ray edition was expected to arrive in September 2011. The exact date has now been confirmed – it will arrive on September 27.
Well, the confirmation comes through Amazon. The retailer has updated the preorder ship dates to September 27th. Amazon has brought in the required information on to their site and is now showing the date of arrival. Most of the other online retailers which had put up the list for pre-orders, had indicated September as its time of delivery of the Blu-ray version, but never mentioned any exact date.
It had earlier been announced that the Blu-ray Special Edition re-mastered version of the original trilogy will be available on three different box sets. The three sets are as follows: Star Wars the complete Saga on Blu-ray including all six movies (in 9 disc set), Start Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy including the three original movies (in 3 disc set) and Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy including the latest three moves (in 3 disc set).
The Complete Saga set will come with three additional discs. It includes the much bespoken extra 30 plus hours of extensive special features. This is inclusive of the never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes as well as an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives.
The 2011 launch for the Blu-ray discs will mark the 35th anniversary of the release of Episode IV: A New Hope, which is the first Star Wars film. The Blu-ray package will also include documentaries, interviews, outtakes, deleted scenes and other footage unique to the new set.
Coming to the pricing details, one can pre-order the Complete Saga for $89.99 on Amazon or the individual trilogies for $44.99 per piece.
