‘Gulab Gang’ movie review and box-office collections report

Making way in the male dominated and much prejudiced society, “Gulab Gang” was released on March 7, 2014 worldwide. Starring two most powerful ladies of Indian screen, the movie will talk of women in the new India, who have power of education, law and society on their sides.

Produced by Anubhav Sinha, “Gulab Gang” promises action, drama and entertainment as Madhuri Dixit will pitch against Juhi Chawla for the first time.

Juhi’s playing a negative character first time onscreen, which is worth a wait. Madhuri Dixit plays the role of “Gulab Gang” leader, a strong group of women fighting against the evils of society, while Juhi will be seen as a corrupt minister in thirst of power and politics.

Art house actress Tannishtha Chatterjee will lend support to the due, promising it will be quite a battle this Friday as another Kangana starrer women centric film “Queen” releases on the same day.

“Gulab Gang” is loosely based on the story of Sampat Pal, who is known to have a gang of pink sari-clad women in Uttar Pradesh known as Gulabi Gang. While Sampat Pal did to file a case to stop the release citing damage to her reputation, a higher court stayed the ban on release.

For now, head to the nearest theatre tomorrow as Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla promise superb fun and a new take on the social world of women in India today.

The movie releases right ahead of Women’s Day on March 8th and is expected to have a good run at the box office.

The poor opening is said to be due to the upcoming exams in the country. Its clear that the students and the youth are away from the theatres.
