Pak cricketers celebrate victory

For the tournament, Indian and Pakistan have played for two matches each and both teams have lost to Sri Lanka.

In the standings, Sri Lanka is leading, with Pakistan following ahead of India. Pakistan lost its first match against Sri Lanka, but managed to beat Afghanistan by 72 runs in the next match, which has kept them ahead in standings on the net run rate. Indian won its first match against Bangladesh, but failed against the might Sri Lankan team.

It’s expected to be a tough fight today as both teams are looking for a desperate win. India had beaten Pakistan in their last match in the previous Asia Cup by wickets by safely chasing the huge target of 330 runs with almost three overs in hand.

That match also saw Sachin Tendulkar playing his last ODI, while it was Viral Kolhi’s unmatched 183 that lead to the win.

Pakistan have won the toss and will field. India will bat first.

The squads are:

India: Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rayudu, Rahane, Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, A Mishra, B Kumar and Mohammed Shami.

Pakistan: Mohammad Hafeez, Sohaib Maqsood, Misbah-ul-Haq, Sharjeel Khan, Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Talha, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal and Junaid Khan.

However, history will have no effect on the match today. India, in the last match, against Bangladesh chased the 280-run target with ease with Captain Kohli scoring another fantastic century. Their second match against Sri Lanka was below par as they had some serious fielding lapses.

For today’s match, India is expected to bowl first, provided Kohli wins the toss. In case, India bats first, it would be players like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Captain Kohli who would need to be in good form. Follow the live scores on ESPNCricinfo here.

It also seems to be a tough pressure match for Dinesh Karthik, who had missed the great chance to stump Sangakkara in the last match and wasn’t good with the bat either. Ravindra Jadeja, Stuart Binny and Ravichandran Ashwin will be the bowling stars to watch.

Pakistan will not have any change in the batting lineup, with Ahmed Shehzad and Sharjeel Khan opening the line. Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Maqsood may try to seal their fortune against India after their below par performance.  Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal will lead the bowling department for today with their spin attack.

It’s expected to be a sunny day at Mirpur today, with the wickets assumed to be flat and slow. Also, dew is presumed to have a big influence.
