This is a crucial start for the Indian team that has performed below expectations for their overseas tour in South Africa and New Zealand. As for the hosts, the team isn’t in shape either.

The squads are:

Bangladesh team: Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Nasir Hossain, Naeem Islam,Shamsur Rahman, Anamul Haque, Ziaur Rahman, Sohag Gazi, Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza.

India team: V Kohli, AT Rayudu, AM Rahane, KD Karthik, RA Jadeja, S Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ashwin, B Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Aaron.

Indians have championed the tournament for record five times, but after 0-2 loss in ODIs to South Africa recently, the pressure will be huge on Indian captain Virat Kohli, who replaces skipper MS Dhoni to lead the team.

The four successive defeats in recent ODIs should create some ripples in the Indian team. Adding to the woes, India will be missing their captain Dhoni and Suresh Raina for the match.

What may work for India is the low side of the Bangladesh team that will miss opener Tamim Iqbal due to a neck strain and Shakib-Al-Hasan, who has been banned for two matches for inappropriate gestures.

Hosts also have more trouble lined up as captain Mushfiqur Rahim is recovering from an injured finger, while pacer Mashrafe Mortaza is dealing with a swollen knee. To add to the controversies, Skipper Musfiqur had fallout with selectors for choosing players without his consult.

India with its past good record against Bangladesh seems to be on the plus side, but their recent losses may be a warning sign. For the hosts, it’s quite a test of their entire lineup and how they perform under pressure.

The highlights will be uploaded here after the game is over.
