Narendra Modi, the prime ministerial candidate of the second largest political party in India, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), was left in a shock when a small-time model, Meghna Patel, who hails from Gujarat, bared it all in a photo shoot to support Mr. Modi as the next Prime Minister of the country.
The photographs, which surfaced and took the internet world by storm today, February 11, 2014, sees Meghna posing with lotus and a placard seeking support from the popular leader of BJP.
In one of the photographs Meghna has a placard covering her entire torso that reads “Vote for Narendra Modi”.
The bold act of Meghna has been condemned by the BJP, which said that although the political party welcomes people to support them, they don’t support such vulgar display. They rather advised all those who want to come forward in support of the BJP leader to attend rallies.
Obviously, there are many who believe that Meghna is using her own body and the name of one of the most popular politicians in the country to gain fame.
Models in India want to gain attention by any means and if they associate themselves with popular people of the country, media houses give them exactly what they need – a few minutes of fame.
Meghna’s way to getting into the media and gaining fame is somewhat similar to what Poonam Pandey, another model turned actress in India, did when she claimed that she will pose nude if the Indian cricket team wins the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, which the team did but Poonam was barred from her nude act.
However, even if she didn’t pose nude, she definitely gained a lot of publicity and even became the most searched Indian model on popular search engine Google.
The recent act of Meghna might have given her all the fame and popularity she was seeking, but the state BJP has decided to take legal action against models who try to make a name for them by defaming the political party.
We hope Meghna learns a lesson this time, and remembers that not all models are as fortunate as Poonam Pandey.
