Karthi’s Tamil movie “Biriyani” which has released on December has opened up to mixed reviews and good collections. The movie which was released in both Tamil and dubbed version of Telugu has impressed youngsters.
Loyal fans of Karthi and Venkat Prabhu have been pretty impressed with the film which is a dark comedy. Karthi is looking for a hit movie after a string of dud movies.
Day on collections of “Biriyani” have been encouraging as the movie has opened above 70% occupancy. Though the occupancy was less in single screens, multiplexes saw good viewership.
The collections are expected to be good for the movie which is released in 1050 screens. The response for “Biriyani” was good in international market.
The movie performed very well in Tamil Nadu-Kerala. “Biriyani” earned around Rs. 2.9 crore nett (after 30 % tax) in the first two days of its release in Tamil Nadu
However it has been partially affected by Hindi release this week Aamir Khan’s “Dhoom 3″ and Tamil release, Jiiva’s “Endrendrum Punnagai”.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that “Biriyani” collected £ 8,435 on Friday across 16 screens in UK. Other Tamil release “Endrendrum Punnagai” collected just £ 2,952 on 11 screens in UK.
Initial reports suggest that the first day collections were approximately 3.10 crores. Trader analysts are however keen to know how the flick will fare in the coming days since the reviews have been mixed so far.
