Toshiba has just launched the Toshiba Satellite L630 laptop in India. The company claims that the device is designed exclusively to suit the environmental conditions in India. The sturdiness of the device is highlighted as the unique feature as the device is said to withstand the extremely dusty, bumpy and hot Indian conditions.
The ‘wipeable keyboard’ is a key feature that makes the device suitable for the Indian conditions. The keyboard is spill resistant, and dust proof and thus protects the device from the dusty environments and accidental beverage spills.
The innovative ‘no-gloss dura-cross’ textured finish of the display of this device is highly resistant to fingerprints on its screen. The laptop is retailed with a tag of being a rugged outdoor laptop. The 250GB hard-drive of the gadget is based on a protection mechanism which reduces the chances of hard drive damage due to shakes and other disturbances.
The company has incorporated a 13.3-inch 200nits LED Backlit TFT screen onto the device that is powered with an Intel Pentium Dual Core P6100 (2.0GHz, 1066MHz FSB). It runs on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit or 64-bit OS and offers 2GB DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM. It has also got a built-in webcam and the 6 cell High-Capacity Lithium Ion battery promises a battery-life of 4.6hrs.
Although the tech specs doesn’t seem to be the best available, the laptop is expected to retail well with its ruggedness and long battery life. Backed up with a 1 year warranty, the company has brought the device with a price tag of Rs. 38,869.
