Bollywood Badshah’s latest movie “Chennai Express” has got the box office into a spin. The movie has broken two box-office record. One for the highest 1st day collections and also for the highest 2nd day collections.
The movie collected a staggering Rs 33.12 crores on the 1st day, i,e Friday breaking the previous 1st day collection of Salman Khan’s “Ek Tha Tiger” which collection Rs 32 crore on its 1st day.
On the 2nd day, i,e Saturday, the movie again collected Rs 28.05 crore which is again a record. Plus the paid Review collection of Rs. 6.75 Crores.
In two days “Chennai Express” collected Rs 67.92 crores and is set to enter the Rs 100 crore club in its 1st weekend itself.
The Sunday earnings have not yet arrived. But it is expected to be the same as the 1st two days collections.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the movie’s collections, “#ChennaiExpress collects Rs 28.05 cr nett on Saturday. This Express is Flying High!”
He added, “#ChennaiExpress is on a record-smashing spree. Thu previews 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr, Sat 28.05 cr. Total: 67.92 cr nett. MONSTROUS Weekend!”
Shahrukh Khan expressed his happiness on the business of his film and tweeted, “”Go to where you feel happiest… so have decided to go and watch ‘Chennai Express’ in the theatre… with the audience. Want to hear the laughter.”
Taran Adarsh also tweeted the collection break up, “#ChennaiExpress is a MASSIVE opener in Overseas too. Thu previews $ 1.29 million, Fri $ 2.3 million. Total: Rs 21.4 cr till Friday. SUPERB!”
Adarsh gives a glimpse of the market scenario as well, “#ChennaiExpress is a hurricane at the BO. Sets 3 records in 3 days: 1) Highest paid previews, 2) Highest Day 1 and 3) Highest Day 2.”
