At CES, Verizon only said that it will release in the coming weeks, and did not mention the exact datee. This mid-range WindowsPhone 8 device looks somewhat similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S3 but lacks the physical home button.

Though the manufacturer and carrier has not revealed the specs details about ATIV odyssey, it is believed to be a 4-inch device with WVGA display and housing a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor under the hood.

The device might also include 1 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear-camera, 1.2-megapixel front-camera, and microSD slot for additional memory up to 64GB. The smartphone is one among the few WP8 smartphones with expandable storage via a micro SD.

The Samsung ATIV Odyssey targets those users who are into smartphones for the first time rather than the power users. This entry-level ATIV Odyssey will most probably carry a price tag of around $50 and it is also possible that the carrier might offer the phone free on contract.

That picture is of the ATIV S, which is NOT the same as the ATIV Odyssey. The ATIV Odyssey looks exactly like the Samsung Focus and does not have a physical home button. The ATIV S that is pictured above has the physical home button and a larger screen size (though the back of both phones look similar). The ATIV S is a more robust and larger phone than the smaller mid-level Odyssey.
