Digital bookseller Kobo has announced its new model , the Kobo Arc. The Arc runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Kobo Arc is a big improvement from its predecessor, the Kobo Vox.
The Arc runs has under the hood 1 GB of RAM, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, plus either 8 GB or 16 GB of storage.The tablet sports a 7-inch 1280 x 800 HD IPS display, and a 720p HD front facing 2-megapixel camera. There is a microUSB slot, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Available in black or white, it will have interchangeable rear panels that are available in a couple of colors. The Kobo Arc will have dual front facing speakers and universal 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack with SRS TruMedia sound.
The Kobo Arc claims a battery life of 10 hours of reading and 2 weeks of standby, with Wi-Fi turned off. It’s expected to launch soon with a starting price of $200.
When it launches, it will be available in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese languages. The company plans to launch more language support in the near future. Meanwhile, the Toronto-based company has also outed two new e-ink reader devices – the six-inch screen Glo, and the aptly named five-inch screen Mini.
