It seems Apple’s iTV would take more time to reach the market, than we initially expected. New developments around the device add to the disappointment of those who were waiting eagerly for the legendary visual device. Previously, we estimated the device could reach outlets by the second quarter of 2012.
The display panels for Apple’s high definition TV would be provided by Sharp. But, we have no evidence to substantiate that Sharp has started to ship IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) panels. Apparently, Apple would require more time, for accomplishment of the iTV project.
Though the device hasn’t arrived yet, it is seen as a potent rival to most of the existing high quality HD TVs showing up in the market. Samsung, LG and Sony are the major players currently in the field. Samsung uses OLED display, while LG sports AMOLED displays in their devices.
The production of IGZO panel is another matter to worry. Output rate of IGZO panel is not so impressive as to meet Apple’s demand, in a short while. Hence the realization of Apple iTV will take proportionally longer time.
Introduction of the iTV would be a big leap in the history of Apple. The iTV has got loads of possibilities when it comes in reality. Apple could utilize apps such as iTunes to make the device smarter and attractive.
However, when it comes to price, you might have to pay more, than an ordinary HD TV. But remember, you are paying for Apple’s iTV!
